INFO
Description:
Situated near Exombourgo, Xinara was the seat of the Archdiocese of Tinos during the byzantine period and the Catholic Archdiocese in the period afterwards. In the past it was also the seat of the municipality of Exombourgo.
Both churches of the village, that of Panaghia toy Rodariou (Our Lady of the Rosary), Diocese of the Catholic Archdiocese, and that of Apostoloi Petros kai Pavlos (Apostles Peter and Paul) are representative of the Tinian architecture. The Palace of the Bishop, a large building of the last century, that was once a clirical school, houses today the archive of all Catholic parishes (the oldest of Tinos) and a museum of ecclesiastical relics.
