Kotsias is a designated Bathing Water ( BW ). Water quality is monitored by the Department of Environment of the Ministry of Agriculture. Natural Resources and Environment during the bathing season (May 1st to October 31st ). The Bathing Water is situated at the coastal area of Chlorakas in Paphos District. Characteristic feature of it is the existence of strong coastal currents. Kotsias stream flows into BW. The stream which runs across the beach at this bathing Water may sometimes be a source of poorer water quality that usual after heavy rainfall. It Has a sandy beach, the width of which is ranging from some meters up to 40 m. The prevailing wind direction during the burning season is the Southeast. From the evaluation of the solution sources within the land and sea area of influence of tha BW, it is estimated that there is a moderate risk of microalgae and phytoplankton growth. The risk of short-term pollution incidents is small, with an incidence of no more that once during the Bathing season.
