Description

The library of Municipality of Mykonos was founded in August 1957 with the initiative and donation of our fellow-citizen Mr Ioannis Alexandrou Meletopoylos, former Governor of National Historical Museum of Athens. Until May 1972 it was accomodated in the Town hall of Mykonos. Because repair of space, it was transported in the residence Igglesi (property of Municipality of Mykonos from bequest of Irene Igglesi). Little later, it was transported in a privately-owned residence granted from the founder of Mr Ioannis Alex. Meletopoylo where it is accomodated up to today.

The library serves the community of island, that is constituted by the students, the residents of all ages of island and more generally from all those where they are addressed in the Library so that they are profited by its services. There exist small collections in the English and French language.
