Information

The Pattichion Municipal Museum-historical archive and study centre, housed in the renovated former district officer's residence, created by the Limassol municipality in collaboration with the press and information Office. This space proved to be the historical development of the city of Limassol and furthermore is a standard Research Center. The history of Limassol occurs through the exhibitions and collections of objects of the Museum. Carnival costumes, historical portraits and photographs, posters, projects with Limassol artists, musical scores and musical instruments, products produced in Limassol, maps and prints, books, original documents and historical documents, furniture and other create a chronology of Limassol which describes important events and personalities from the history of the city.

In place of the file exists in digitized form four files of the press and information Office: a) the Newspaper Archive from 1878, b) Described file since 1962, c) and (d) Photo Archive) file. The digitized files, with free access to the public, contribute to further promotion of the history of Cyprus making accessible the information under other circumstances it would be impossible to find under one roof. In the Museum there is a room for temporary exhibitions and educational programs room. The Museum organizes every year the Annual Scientific Symposium oral history, offers courses and seminars about the history of Limassol and conducts educational programs for students of primary and secondary education.
