The Local Archaeological Museum of Kourion is part of House of 1937 that belonged to George McFadden, who led extensive archaeological investigations at Kourion and the surrounding area, from 1934 until his death in 1953. After his death, the House passed McFadden of the Department of Antiquities. A part of the molded into the showroom and was opened in December 1969. The Museum houses two exhibition halls, of, finds from the ancient city of kourion, the Sanctuary of Apollo Hylates and settlements and burial sites of the surrounding area. The objects displayed in the front hall reflect the different phases of the history of the city of kourion. The findings come from the Acropolis of kourion, an extensive necropolis of Agios Ermogenis, Mitilini, as well as the early Christian basilicas in the region. Of particular interest are the skeletons of a three-member family who lost their lives during the great earthquake of 365 a.d. that destroyed the city of kourion. The second room contains finds from the Sanctuary of Apollo Hylates and from various locations of settlements and inscriptions are exposed at the region of kourion.
