Description
Palodia is a village located just 7KM north of Limassol city centre. The village is built on an altitude of 250 meters and it is near the villages of Spitalas, Paramytha and Fasoula.
It is not absolutely certain about the origins of the name Palodia but one version that prevails in the village is that, when the opening of the narrow passage way between Agia Filaxios and Palodia occurred it was renamed "parodia", so Palodia was derived from this word. Leontios Machairas mentions the village with the palace, which probably is the Palodeia.
In the past, one of the main occupations of the residents of village was the seeding and reaping. For this reason the community is famous of the threshing floors.
