Description

Skalochori is located in the northwestern part of Lesvos, 58 km from the town of Mytilene. It is a picturesque mountain village.

A sight worth visiting is the local school which was built from local stone.

North of the village is the waterfront location Kalo Limani, also called Tsamouris Port, and a little further east of this there are ruins of a medieval castle called Omvriokastro.

In the west end of the village there is the famous monastery called Iera Moni Perivolis which is a small paradise in complete contradiction with the roughness of the ground.
