Description

Sigri is located at the west end of the island, 94 km from the town of Mytilene.

Sights of the village include the Natural History Museum of the Petrified Forest and a castle built by the Turks in 1757. Also, the church of St. Nicholas at the entrance of the village which was built in 1912. Finally, interesting enough to visit are also the Byzantine and medieval ruins that lie north to the location of Paliokastro.

The village has a beautiful beach with sand and clean cold waters. Finally, about 4 km north of the village is the  beautiful beach of Virgin Faneromeni where one can also find the chapel of Faneromeni.

Sigri is the best part of Lesvos for the surfing lovers, due to the very strong winds that blow in the area.
