Description

Plakados is located on the Gera Bay, 23.8 km from the city of Mytilene. It is believed that it took its name after a plaque that was in the old church of St. Vlasios, or from the word "plaka" which has the meaning of plate which in greek can also mean panel.

The attraction of the village is the church of St. Vlasios dating from 1841. Just outside the village, in ‘Mana’ position ruins of a temple have been found while in the Vigli area there are ruins of a medieval castle.
