Pamfila

Description

Pamfila is located 7 km north of the town of Mytilene. It takes its name from the ancient ‘Pamphilos’ or ‘Pamfilis’ which name derives from the numerous leaves of trees in the area.

Worth seeing is the imposing church of Agia Varvara in the center of the village. Also the building of the high school, located at the entrance of the village and the building of the old Primary School (1928) opposite to the latter, are definitely worth a visit.

Close to the village is the industrial zone with an old olive press. The port name is Skala Pamfilon which is located on the east of the village. There the beautiful church of St. Nicholas and the church of St. Luke can be found. The latter of which was built by a hermit - Archimandrite.
