Description

This is a monument/memorial, of Airforce Captain Kostas Iliakis.

On May 23rd 2006, the fighter jet piloted by Captain Iliakis fell at the sea during an incident at the south of Karpathos island, while trying to restrain two Turkish F-16s.

He has been awarded the silver medal of virtue and sacrifice from the Academy of Athens. Every year around May 23rd, at the site of the monument, ownorery celebrations are takind place, with fighter jet demonstrations at the sky.
