Description

Description: One of the four ancient towns of Karpathos, Vrykous (Vourgounta) stands on a peninsula on the western side of the island, close to Avlona. You can only hike to there or visit by boat. In this wild rocky environment you can see the ruins of the ancient Mycenaean town, and the stunning church of Saint John (Agios Ioannis) located in the big cave close to the sea. Every 28th of August there is the traditional festival where you can enjoy the traditional dances, food and sleep outside in the nature. Do not forget to bring your own sleeping bag, and again lots of water.
