Description
Description: Mesochori stands in the middle of the island as its name states (middle village). In an amazing green enviroment combined perfectly with the sea, Mesochori is for sure one of the prettiest villages of Karpathos. Park your car in the parking lot you find when you reach the village and follow the path that will take to you the church of Virgin Mary (Vryssiani) with the tall bell – tower and the clock, visit the spring of crystal clear water underneath. Follow the path to Skopi, where an old fortress of the middle ages was placed and you can still find the remaining of the walls on the right side of the two churches. In Skopi you will probably enjoy the prettiest sunset and you will pose for a great photograph with background of the endless blue. Another must see is the small church of Agios Ioannis, which dates back to 1781, in the center of the village, as its decorated with beautiful frescoes. If you find it closed dont be disappointed, it is for protection. Little churches, many many steps, Very narrow paths with a sense of a real labyrinth Mesochori will amaze you. Trust me you will probably get lost in the village but enjoy every minute of it. In Mesochori you will find many coffee shops, small taverns which offer traditional dishes, mini markets and studios if you wish to stay for a night or more.
