Description

Description: Menetes was built during the middle ages and you will find it between Arkassa and Pigadia. Is one of the big villages of Karpathos and well known for the historical and miraculous church of the "Assumption of Virgin Mary" which is celebrated every 15th of August. On 15th of August you will realise that is a populous celebration where they offer traditional food and later in the day dance. You will find the church on top of a 90 meters hill, a really shocking view. Furthermore, on the hill next to the cemetery, you will find the statue of a partisan holding a gun and a grenade. Its a monument dedicated to the fight of Karpathians, against the occupation of the Axis Forces during the WW2. From Menetes you can enjoy a great view of the town and the sea. Usually windy, with narrow streets and traditional houses, Menetes has coffee shops and small taverns with great food as well a small mini-Market to offer.
