The Hall of the Merchant Seamen  Retirement Fund (NAT) is one of the most important public buildings of Piraeus. It has been characterized as a work of art by the Ministry of Culture. Constructed in the 1927-1930 period. The architect name was N.Zoumpoulidis, among his works is the main building of the Bank of Greece on Aiolou Street and the old Athens Stock Exchange.

Originally was conceived as a building of the National Bank. However, during construction, the establishment of the Bank of Greece in 1928, caused to split it into two properties. Currently divided into three properties, as the National Bank has granted the southern part of the building to the Merchant Seamen Retirement Fund, in August 1954 and kept only the basement.

It consists of ground floor, basement and three floors. Its length is 57 meters, width 29 meters and height 25 meters. The four sides are relatively flat, with small recesses and embossed decorative elements. Each face differs from the juxtaposed. The middle band is formed with colonnade. The view from Vasileos Georgiou avenue, is oriented towards the port and crowned with a pediment. The individual elements and the manner of organization comes from different classic architectural styles and combined with the austere style of the building is characterized as building of late classicism.
