Description

Ormideia is a village that belongs to Larnaca district. It is located roughly 15 kilometers northeast of Larnaca and 20 kilometers southwest of Famagusta. 

It is located in the area of red villages and adjacent to Xylotymbou villages , Forest Achna , Avgorou and Chylofagou . It is surrounded tightly by the British bases Dekelias just six kilometers from the Green Line . 

 It has a population of around 4600 inhabitants, of which 30% are refugees residing in the village since 1974. Residents of Ormidhia currently engaged in agriculture, livestock, fisheries and a large percentage of the tourism industry of Larnaca, Ayia Napa and Protaras. 

The Ormideia got its name from the many bays which has a beach and was famous for its large production of pomegranate and vast orchards. 

So today you see as the village of  Pomegranate .
