Faneromenis Church

;

Description

In the underground sewers of the city, ancient tombs from the Phoenician period between the 4th and 6th centuries BC were found. Archaeologists were quick to claim that the tombs could potentially be some kind of extension to an ancient tomb known as the "Catacombs". This dates all the way back to the 4th century BC and can be found at the site of the ancient church of Panayia Faneromeni.

The site was once a large cemetery "Faneromeni of old", with scattered tombs known as "Larnaces", which is the origin of Larnaca's name. This finding further demonstrates that Larnaca is a city of the future with a rich and fascinating past.
